Filtration and how it affects water quality
Water filtration serves a dual purpose. Advanced water purification systems remove harmful contaminants and provide odourless and clean drinking water.
A quality filter will remove impurities from your water supply without leaching any vital minerals. This ensures that you enjoy the best quality water that does not taste metallic or have an unpleasant odour.
Most mains-fed water cooler units are fitted with filtration systems. This means that tap water is filtered before consumption.
What is reverse osmosis?
Reverse osmosis (RO) occurs when water is forced through a semi- permeable membrane at high pressure. This removes many impurities and contaminants.
This membrane is made from cellulose acetate, polysulfonate and polyamide. It allows water particles to pass through, but holds back contaminants like dissolved salts, organic matter and bacteria.
What’s the difference between purified water and demineralised water?
Purified water simply means that the water has been mechanically filtered or processed to remove impurities.
Demineralised water is water obtained through the process of distillation or ionisation. The demineralisation process removes almost all minerals from water.
