Oxygenated Water, Ionized Water and Other Nonsense

It is usual for us at the trade shows where we exhibit to encounter one or more vendors of “Oxygenated Water” or various devices that supposedly produce this marvellous substance. We also frequently come across machines which are supposed to make “Ionized Water”. These mythical substances are sold as being invigorating or health improving or useful for increased sporting performance.

All of this is complete and utter nonsense. Chemists know this perfectly well, but there is a section of the general public which is easily persuaded of the truth of these amazing properties and seems happy to part with their money to obtain these mysterious and wonderful beverages.

Our product range includes water coolers, bottle water coolers, drinking fountains etc. Here at Pressure Coolers we make no such outrageous claims for our products. We claim only to sell devices that dispense traditional drinking water which has derived either from filtered tap water or from pure bottled water. As any school chemistry teacher will tell you, drinking water is mostly H20 plus a small amount of naturally occurring minerals and ions which are generally regarded as good for you. There is also a small amount of dissolved oxygen in water but this is miniscule in proportion to the oxygen which a person draws in through their lungs. Even if the concentration of oxygen in water has been increased by chemical or electrical means it is still infintesimally small and also completely useless to the human body and will most likely be thrown out again by the digestive system as a burp.
